Mental Health Awareness

I founded the self help group Harrogate Black Dog over 3 years ago. Since then I have been campaigning in various ways to raise much needed awareness.

I am in the process of compiling an anthology called “A Darker Shade of Blue”. This is a collection of poems written by people suffering from mental health issues and also by the loved ones of people who are suffering.

I am still collecting poems so if anyone reading this would like to donate a poem please do.  It is not a writing competition and all submissions will be included.  It is purely to raise money and to raise awareness.

I have also made bracelets for the campaign which I am selling for £5 each. The money will go towards the publication costs. However, if I find a publisher willing to do it for me the money will either go to MIND Harrogate or I will set up a charity to provide complementary therapies to people in emotional crisis.

I will be very soon setting up a shop on this blog to sell these bracelets from.

I am currently studying Complementary Therapies at White Rose Beauty and they have been extremely supportive not only in having my bracelets on their desk but also donating £5 out of every £10 treatment to the campaign.
