Time To Put Pen To Paper
As most of you know I am currently putting together a book which is a collection of poems and your poems are still needed. The book’s main purpose is to raise awareness for mental health issues. The poetry is by people who have suffered with or who are suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar etc.
Your Poems Are Still Needed
I desperately need more poems to be donated for this important cause. You do not have to be a fantastic poet; this is not a competition. It is purely a way to have your voice heard and be listened to while raising awareness at the same time.
I started writing seriously last year and found it extremely cathartic but also very enjoyable. It is something I always wanted to do but I never thought I was good enough. However, I was wrong because the words I wrote moved people. I am very proud of the poems I wrote and I want you to be proud too but of your own work.
Help Me Get Rid Of The Stigma
It is so extremely important for people to listen and to realise that mental health conditions like the ones I have mentioned are nothing to be ashamed of; they are illnesses just like any other. The stigma needs to be gotten rid of and with the help of Princes Harry, William and of course Katherine the Heads Together campaign is helping with this. But your help is just as important if not more so.
I would like to publish this as a hardback because I want to treat these poems and the people who wrote them with the respect that they deserve and I want people to take this seriously.
I have set up a GoFundMe page for people to make monetary donations to help me do this. Any money that will be left over will go to the charity MIND. Please click on this link to make a much-appreciated donation. Please don’t forget as well as money we need poems; your poems are still needed very much.
If you would like to donate a poem please send it to me at email@example.com
I am also creating some friendship bracelets at £5 each which will be available locally (shop to be announced soon) to help with this fund. I will also be placing them on the shop in this blog.
A Darker Shade Of Blue
I have also used my own artwork and created T-Shirts to help raise much-needed awareness to mental health issues. These can be found in the shop also.
If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. The Harrogate Advertiser have put an article about me and this book and if you wish to read it you can find it here. The printed version will be out next Thursday, 2 November 2017.
Please share this post on social media and let’s get this campaign moving in the right direction.
Thank you to everyone that has donated so far but we still have a way to go. With your help, we will get there.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend but please remember your poems are still needed.
All my love
