Brand New Ink
This is a follow up from a recent post. For those of you that don’t know, I had two Celtic tattoos on my right arm which I have had lasered. However, there is still a little bit which will need sorting at some point. As I love tattoos and because I could still see the old tattoos I decided to get a cover-up.
I sent some images to Lee Devor at The Devil’s Angel Tattoo Shop in Ripon of images I liked but left the final design to him. The criteria I wanted covering was that I wanted a fox; firstly because I was born and raised in Leicester and the symbol for Leicester is a Fox. As I love foxes I couldn’t think of anything better to represent me.
To personalise it, even more, I wanted the Fox to be wearing my glasses so that the fox then becomes me. As you may or may not know I have had a pretty shit life especially since moving to Harrogate; obviously with the exception of my children and grandson. But right now I am feeling on top of the world. I have reached a huge turning point in my life where I have been able to change my mindset and start to live and do the things I was meant to be. Therefore I wanted either a compass or a globe to represent this change of mindset. The moon is because I am your typical Cancerian and a real Moon Baby.
My New Fox Tattoo
So now I have a tattoo of me (a fox wearing glasses), with a full moon behind me, with the paws on top of the world. I absolutely love this. It has taken me a long time to save to get it done but it is so worth it.
This is the first time I have been to Lee’s new studio although I have known Lee for quite a while and followed him a lot longer. It is a beautiful building on the outside; a typical old market town property.
On entering the studio you notice the decor straight away. In my opinion, it is definitely the best looking tattoo shop I have been into and I have been in a few. It is extremely clean, the decor is beautiful, a beautiful big old wooden desk in the reception area with a lovely sofa, very much a Farrow & Ball colour scheme going on which gives a tranquil and sophisticated feel to the place. But the music is modern a bit grungey but cool; a few times I had the urge to dance which doesn’t go well with being tattooed. The seating is extremely comfortable and I was sat there all day yesterday but obviously with a few timeouts to stretch my legs etc and grab a coffee which the lovely apprentice made for me; I saw his work yesterday and it is gorgeous so give him the once over too.
Everyone who has never had a tattoo as soon as they see yours you get, “Did it hurt?” Well, what can you say apart from, “Hell Yeah?! But that to me is part of the fun in a strange way. First of all you get the image outline transferred onto your skin.
Once the first couple of minutes is over you kind of get into a zone and just ride that wave of pain. It’s part of the process so you have to just get on with it. Also, peoples pain tolerances are so different and unique. Personally, I would rather have a tattoo than give birth any day. I do have to admit though it didn’t hurt yesterday as much as previous ones did. Maybe I’m just getting a bit hardcore as I get older. Bring it on!
There are several other tattoo ideas I have; I think people are more accepting of them these days. But probably a bit like Marmite you either love them or hate them. I personally love them and the next one is an old school butterfly representing transformation.
The Devils Angel Tattoo Shop
I just want to let others know that Lee does gift vouchers which is absolutely great with Christmas coming; hint… hint…. so if you want to get inked get your ass over to Lee’s and he will treat you like the boss he is… Anyone who gets their tattoo done there I will show on the blog.
For more images of Lee’s awesome work head off to his page link here.
Right, I’m off to the Doctors now as I’ve got a poorly body today.
Enjoy the rest of your day people and if I get time I will catch you tomorrow with the new Birchbox.
