Yes, it is! Honest Guv
I am so happy to announce that today in Sweden is National Waffle Day and who am I to not celebrate something as amazing as that. It is celebrated in Sweden on 25 March every year. The name comes from Varfrudagen (“Our Lady’s Day”) which in vernacular Swedish sounds like Vaffeldagen (waffle day). Our Lady’s Day is celebrated on 25 March (nine months before Christmas) the Christian holiday of Annunciation, and the Waffle Day is hence celebrated.
In Sweden, the heart-shaped waffle iron is the most common but didn’t come into existence until the 19th century. Since the 17th-century Swedes were creating waffles over a fire with a waffle iron.
Yes I’m On A Diet
Now as you know I am on a very strict diet but I have managed to incorporate an allowed waffle into this. “What?” I can hear you say. Yes, folks, you heard it right. I am therefore proud to share with you my diet allowed waffle with photos.
It seriously doesn’t get easier than this. If you go to the website “Exante” (link at the top of my page on the right) you will be taken to the website of where I get my ingredients. All you need is 4 ingredients and a waffle maker. These are quite cheap and I got mine from Amazon. Believe me, after trying this you’ll be using it every day:
1 x Sachet Exante Meal Replacement Lemon Pancake Mix
Few squirts of Coconut Oil Spray
My Protein Sugar-Free Butterscotch Sauce
Now honestly this is so easy and I’m so excited to share this with you.
Pour 100ml of cold water into a jug.
Add the contents of the sachet and mix with a fork.
That is it! Not difficult at all is it.
Now Time To Cook Your Waffle
You need to spray the waffle iron with the coconut oil making sure you have covered the plates. Close the lid and turn the power on at the socket.
You will see a red light appear and it will start warming up. A couple of minutes later the green ready light will come on so that you know it is hot enough to use.
Now pour the mix into the plates evenly and close the lid.
All that you need to do then is turn the waffle maker over (you turn it with the handle very easily) and leave to cook.
Turn back occasionally and open to see if it’s cooked.
If it needs a little bit longer then close the lid again for however long you need to.
Remove the waffle and place in a bowl and then I dribbled mine with “My Protein” sugar-free butterscotch sauce. Absolutely delicious and as my mate Peter Kaye would say; it’s a taste sensation.
It is so light and fluffy and it tastes so deliciously naughty but comes in at 200 calories. It also contains vitamins etc as its a meal replacement product.
So if you are watching what you eat you can’t go wrong with this. Exante also does a maple syrup version too.
You will be pleased to know that in the United States, National Waffle Day is celebrated August 24, the date of a U.S. patent on a waffle iron. So we can celebrate all over again. In the meantime I shall just keep practicisng makeing them and eating them.
If you have a go let me know how yours turn out. My first attempt yesterday wasn’t so amazing although it tasted absolutely gorgeous.
Catch you soon
