Happy Tuesday Everyone
Hope everyone had a great weekend. How did you find the podcast? If you haven’t listened to it yet you will find it on the bottom of Monday’s blog post; link here. This weeks podcast episode was all about the health benefits of intermittent fasting and how to do it and also the different types of fasting.
I have now been doing 16 hr fasting sessions since Saturday alongside my Exante diet meal replacement plan. As usual, you can find the products we used on The Fast Fix documentary on the link below and this will entitle you to use my exclusive money off code TRACEY40 to get a massive 40% discount off your shop.
Mental Health Awareness Tattoos
Yesterday I got my mental health awareness tattoo. Below is the image of the tattoo which I had done yesterday.
The Semicolon Tattoo Project
That’s right: the semicolon. It’s a tattoo that has gained popularity in recent years, but unlike other random or mystifying trends, this one has a serious meaning behind it. (And no, it’s not just the mark of a really committed grammar nerd.)
The semicolon tattoo represents mental health struggles and the importance of suicide prevention. Project Semicolon was born from a social media movement in 2013.
It is a “movement dedicated to presenting hope and love to those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction, and self-injury. Project Semicolon exists to encourage, love, and inspire.”
But why a semicolon?
“A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life.”
Originally created as a day where people were encouraged to draw a semicolon on their bodies and photograph it, it quickly grew into something greater and more permanent. Today, people all over the world are tattooing the mark as a reminder of their struggle, victory, and survival.
As you know I have talked about this many times but for people who don’t know and are new to my blog 16 people take their own lives every single day in this country and this is 16 too many.
People and especially men are reluctant to talk about their problems and this needs addressing. People are losing their sons, brothers, fathers etc and we need to help to stop this by talking about mental health and how it affects everyone; men, women and children.
My Ultimate Goal
As you know I am still putting together the anthology of poems to raise awareness and I am still accepting them as I want to get as many as possible. So please don’t think I have stopped working on this project because I most definitely haven’t. I feel this campaign has been running through my blood for so long now it has become a big part of who I am and always will be. I want this project to be both visual and written and am still working on ideas for an art installation to coincide with the release of the book whenever that may be.
I have been on one hell of a rollercoaster during my life and have had a lot more downs than ups. This is why this project is so close to my heart. I know what it is like to feel that you have no way out and want to check out. But I also know what it is like when you get past that stage. I understand the emotions involved and the way your body and mind reacts in a state of crisis. It is because of my own recovery from serious life events that I want to help others to get through theirs.
I started this by setting up an online support group over 3 years ago which has been one of the best things I have ever done. It has helped so many people reach out and speak up in their hour of need. I want to take this as far as I can and won’t stop until I do. Ideally, I would love to be able to start a charity and raise enough money to open a retreat for people in crisis who need to escape for a couple of days. Whether it happens or not I don’t know but I will try.
Service To Humanity
I have always had this call deep inside for as long as I can remember. When I am on my deathbed I want to feel I have finally made a difference however small it may be and to have been a role model for my children and grandchildren. I think it is so important to be able to inspire people and to motivate them to make a better life for them and for others. Be the difference.
Holistic Health And Wellness Coach
It is because of this and because of the life events I have experienced I will become a Holistic Health & Wellness Coach. I will be undertaking as many courses as I can to move this forward. There are no legal requirements to do this; no official certificate to gain and I don’t think there can be either if I’m brutally honest. But I do feel that I have experienced so much pain in my life in so many ways. I know I have not just the knowledge, and the experience but also the maturity and the right intention behind this calling. Without sounding like I’ve lost the plot I truly believe this is the path I am meant to take and be on. Otherwise, seriously what is the point of having experienced all these horrible things if I can’t turn them into something so positive and use them to help others go through similar things and get to the other side?
Glad I got that off my chest now to put it all into action.
Right I need a coffee and a lemon yoghurt bar – I’m just so rock and roll me.
