How do you live with GORD – Acid Reflux
GORD – Acid reflux has to be the most awful condition I have ever had. I was diagnosed with an hiatus hernia approximately 6 years ago. For five years it has been successfully controlled by medication – one Lansoprazol a day. Only time I had a problem was if I forgot one or drank too much alcohol the night before.
GORD – Acid Reflux and an Increase in symptoms
However, this time last year the symptoms increased by 100%. As a result my GP increased my medication to twice a day which worked for a little while but now it is not working. Throughout last year I would wake up in the middle of the night at least 3 or 4 times choking on acid. It takes a very long time to settle and I have to try and fall back asleep sitting up which is near enough impossible for me to do.
Over the course of this year the symptoms have become even worse. I have spent the best part of this year waking up in the middle of the night choking on acid.
Gord – Acid Reflux and Fibromyalgia
I also suffer with fibromyalgia which happens because of a poor quality of deep sleep so this is now aggravating my condition big time. I had an endoscopy a couple of months ago which was unsuccessful because there was still food in my stomach; even though I had fasted as instructed. Now I have another one set for next weekend. Fingers crossed this time my stomach will be empty; as a precaution I will be eating very little the day before.
It isn’t a pleasant procedure but I so want them to do it and to then operate. It has such a knock on effect on my health and daily life it’s ridiculous. From the bottom of my heart I would not wish it on anyone.
Today I can hardly do anything; fibromyalgia is flaring up and I am even more exhausted than usual. I’m too scared to eat anything today as I desperately want to sleep tonight.
I apologise for the depressing tone of this post but felt it needed to be said so that other people suffering with this problem know they are not suffering on their own.
I will let you know how the endoscopy goes next Sunday.
