Chocolate And Nut Heaven
I thought I would have a quick look in my cupboard to see what naughtiness I could manifest without taking too much time. Unfortunately, I know you are supposed to not eat a lot of chocolate but the high cocoa solids chocolate is actually good for you; just as long as you don’t eat a kilo of the stuff in one sitting.
Purition Shakes… Yuck
I had to think of something to make because I had recently bought a trial discovery meal replacement shakes from Purition and I really hate to say it but they were horrible. Subsequently, I am definitely sticking to my favourite meal replacement shake provider and that is Exante (LINK ABOVE) – stick with what you know! And if it isn’t broke don’t try and fix it!
I know the Purition shakes are made with real ingredients which I love the idea of but the taste just wasn’t there for me at all. The first one I tried was the strawberry one and even though it had freeze dried strawberries in it sadly it was lost on me. I paid over £12 for this box so thought I would try and use them in different ways so I haven’t wasted my money and subsequently, this post was born.
High Protein Chocolate Slab
Ingredients I used
3 large bars of good quality dark chocolate (minimum of 70% cocoa solids)
Dried goji berries
Plain unsalted peanuts
Peanut Powder (fantastic stuff and less fat than the normal peanut butter – I got mine from ASDA but I have seen them on the My Protein website and a few others so easy to get hold of.
Pistachio Purition Sachet
Large handful of seeds (Sesame, Linseed, flax, sunflower, pumpkin)
What Did I do?
Yes indeed what did I do? Apart from dribble everywhere looking at what was in front of me and how yummy I knew it was going to be. Chocolate used to be one of my massive weaknesses along with bread, but I just don’t eat a lot of it anymore for health reasons.
I also stick to the darker chocolate when I do eat it and with good quality ingredients. That way you know you are getting some health benefits. I’ve never tried goji berries before and I saw them in ASDA today and thought they might be nice in this. Goji berries are used to treat many common health problems, diabetes, high blood pressure, fever, age-related eye problems etc.
Firstly I broke up all the chocolate (minus one square which accidentally fell into my mouth; well if I’m being honest two then). I then melted it in the microwave in batches of 30 seconds until it had melted sufficiently. Give it a stir it while it cools down and then add the above ingredients in whatever amounts you would prefer until they are all coated.
Line a baking tray with foil or greaseproof paper and spray it with coconut oil and then empty the chocolate gorgeousness onto the tray and spread out not too thick. Pop it into the fridge or freezer until it is set.
You could also melt some white chocolate and drizzle over the top or even coconut.
Just tried the first bit and OMFG! That is the best fruit and nut bar I’ve ever eaten. Now I have to try and not eat the whole chuffin lot!
Don’t blame me if you eat too much and get fat.
