Still Going Strong
Exante Total Solution Diet day four and still going strong. I woke up with that unmistakable taste in my mouth so there is a good chance I’m on the way to ketosis. Keto breath is yuck but thankfully it doesn’t last forever. If you are struggling with it I would suggest get yourself some sugar-free gum. I know some people say no but honestly, I used it in the past when leaving The Fast Fix Clinic and it didn’t seem to hamper my weight loss.
Which reminds me I need to get myself some today. I just get a bit self-conscious when I can taste the keto breath as I don’t want to breathe on anyone.
Two Shakes And A Pancake
Yet again it was two pink shakes and finished off with a lemon pancake mix turned into a waffle. Now I mentioned yesterday about making things taste a bit better. Well, I stumbled upon a sugar-free butterscotch sauce which you can get from My Protein. They do lots of other flavours too and you don’t need a lot but it makes such a huge difference.
They also make something called flav drops which is a sugar-free flavouring you can add to things. Now I think these are great for the times you buy a batch of shakes and you are not too keen on the taste. Or you could maybe just buy the vanilla shakes and then mix up your own flavour with the aid of the drops. With these drops, you can make them more palatable and again you don’t need a lot so a little bottle will last you a long time.
The butterscotch sauce comes in a squeezy bottle, not unlike tomato ketchup bottles. I also bought an apple one to go with the maple flavour pancakes.
Savoury Meal Tips
Now I’m not a great lover of the savoury meals but I do like the shepherd’s pie, the spaghetti bolognese and the turkey dinner. Now I have found though that to make them taste better the shepherd’s pie needs salt, black pepper, dried mixed herbs or chopped fresh herbs. I am a bugger with white pepper and I put loads on. The consistency is a bit like mash potato and sometimes you get several peas in it.
I tend to leave it to rest a couple of minutes so the peas can go soft. Sometimes I will put some Worcestershire sauce in too. Please be aware though as with lots of other products they don’t look like the image. The image of the shepherd’s pie looks like a plate of mince and in reality, it looks like flavoured smash. Don’t let the look of something put you off though.
Now the bolognese I find tastes nicer with a bit of a kick to it so I put some black pepper, and some chopped chilli, or Tabasco sauce. With the turkey dinner, I do a similar thing I put either chopped fresh or dried sage in and leave it to stand for a bit because the turkey bits will be too hard. The turkey dinner has a bit of a stuffing flavour.
I will be honest I can’t stand the carbonara. Jeana in The Fast Fix loved it but the rest of us thought it was bloody revolting. The smell was even disgusting. I would suggest for anyone buying products for the first time just buy one of each or just a couple.
Please don’t buy a box of 50 of something you have never tried before. Just because you have read some people think a certain product is fantastic it doesn’t mean that you will. I made that mistake in the beginning and ordered shit loads of a certain bar and I couldn’t physically chew it when it was in my mouth. I even tried it again further on into the plan and it was still bloody revolting. Thankfully they no longer make the flavour in question.
Great British Bake Off
I don’t know about you guys but I really struggle when watching this programme. An hour of watching people make and eat cake and bread and a lot of other treats drives me insane. Now last night I was naughty actually that’s the wrong word to use because it was something I chose to do. I had 3 dark chocolate brazils and I savoured each and every one.
If you remember Tuesday, I mentioned about planning ahead. Now I don’t have any bars at the minute so I couldn’t do that and I knew a shake wasn’t going to fit the bill while cake watching. I made the decision to have the 3 brazils and to enjoy them and I bloody well did. Now I’m not saying you should do this every day otherwise you will end up right at the start of your journey again.
The main thing is and importantly, I knew this was going to happen, I chose for this to happen and so there is no guilt. I also knew that tomorrow I would be going to the gym to rectify any damage and also because I wanted to.
Now The total solution and exercise should not be done together; exercise should be gentle. Because I went to the gym I had an extra shake. It’s a case of finding the right balance. Also because this was planned there was no guilt. If there was guilt you can guarantee I would have eaten the whole damn lot of them.
You know what it’s like, “Oh I’ve had 3 I may as well have them all and start again tomorrow” Oh no you don’t… put them back right now! But… as I said it was a choice and a compromise and I still had hold of the power, my motivation and my discipline.
The key is to stay focused on your goal and be strong enough to admit it was your choice and it was a disciplined choice.
