First Weigh In
Woohoo day 8 of 28 of my join me and lose weight for good plan and I am now 5lb down. I am so so happy with that. I know it would have been more if I had done the Total Solution plan but realistically I would struggle with 3 shakes and 4 suits me better because of exercise. So I am ecstatic!
Day 8 of 28 Of My Join Me And Lose Weight For Good Plan
One shake down today so far and yes another pink one; some things just don’t change. I’m hoping to get to the shop later to buy some kale I’m determined to try some homemade kale crisps. The rest of my meals today will probably be 2 more bars, a pancake and if I go to the gym a chicken breast.
Different Types Of Fat
This is going to make me sound completely stupid but before my weight loss journey on ITV’s The Fast Fix: Diabetes I did not know we had different types of fat. To me fat was fat. There are in fact 3 different types of fat. Firstly we have ectopic fat. Ectopic means an abnormal place i.e. ectopic pregnancy. So ectopic fat is fat in places where it really shouldn’t be for example inside the liver, the pancreas etc. Now on the beginning of my journey my liver was the second highest in the group; not something to be proud of.
Secondly we have visceral fat. This is fat that covers are internal organs. Out of the 3 fats the ectopic and visceral are the most dangerous. The more of this type of fat you have the higher risk you have of fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular mortality. At this point I would just like to add you don’t have to be obese to have fat stored in these areas as you will see in the documentary next week.
Last but not least we have subcutaneous fat which is the fat we have under our skin and everywhere else. Subcutaneous fat is less dangerous than ectopic and visceral but we still don’t need to be carrying more than a healthy amount. When in ketosis your body gets rid of the ectopic and visceral fat first which is brilliant news. Some people get disappointed with just a 5lb loss. Below you will see a photo of what 5lbs of fat actually looks like.
Maybe now you can see why I am so happy for losing this amount of fat over the past 7 days. Even 1lb of fat looks gross.
