Update Following Yesterday’s Press Release
Hi guys. So yesterday was a bit of a mad day but very exciting. Finally being able to talk about the upcoming documentary I am in finally came to be. A lot of people asked if I was in the BBC one last night. I definitely wasn’t in the BBC one. Although that documentary is similar in that they used a very low calorie diet (VLCD) as a means to lose weight and help their illnesses. The documentary I am in will go into more depth including ketosis etc. Last night’s show the housemates used the Cambridge diet (far too expensive in my opinion). However my housemates and I used Exante. Who as you know I can’t praise enough; amazing products. I’ve now finally stopped for breath as I was up all night answering questions on social media platforms. No rest for the wicked. Is wicked good? Hell yeah of course it is. But finally today’s post is day 4 of 28 of the join me and lose weight for good plan. I got there eventually!
Day 4 Of 28 Of The Join Me And Lose Weight For Good Plan
So how did you all do yesterday? I struggled a bit last night and that is definitely the time I find it the hardest. Think with me it’s a case of years of bad habits, i.e. sofa + tv + eating crap + everyday = lard ass! Who said I was bad at maths I’ve just done an equation and no calculator in sight. On day 2 we touched on emotional and comfort eating as a lot of us struggle with this. Today I am going to talk about something else. It’s quite a basic thing actually but I promise you is extremely important. You will thank me for this honestly.
I’m gonna urge you to do this as soon as possible. Some people don’t want to because they think it will make them feel bad about themselves. The same goes to taking a photograph of yourself at the beginning of your journey. Yes you will absolutely hate what you see and read you really will there is no question of that. I shed a few tears myself. But hand on heart I promise you that you will be so incredibly glad that you did it. In the future when you look back at it there will be tears of joy and not sadness.
Now you can either do this by hand or you can do it by the old fashioned way of pen and paper. As I’m a bit retro and old school I did it the old fashioned way but started with apps alongside half way through. You don’t have to be as daft as me and make the workload double just do what is best for you but please do it. I got myself a fantastic A5 notebook with a cover I liked and a nice new pen and got to work.
You need to chose a day in the week when you will take the measurements and your weight and you need to do it on the same day every week and the best results will be naked. If you can’t do it naked just make sure you are wearing the same thing every time.
I made a chart on each page with my pen and ruler. On the top I write the date. Underneath the date I write my weight for that day. Under this but on the left hand side I wrote on separate lines the places I would be measuring. For me this was:
Widest Part (this was bigger than my waist)
Left Upper Arm
Right Upper Arm
Then the second column is where you write your starting measurements. The first page will just have these two columns. However, the following week will have an extra couple of columns, the third column will be your new measurements for the week. The fourth column you will write the difference between the two. That way you can keep a tally going forward. The following week will be a fifth column which will be Total Overall. It just makes it easier to keep upto date. But you don’t need to do it my way. As long as you can see the difference each week and in a way that you understand that will be good enough. The important thing is to just do it!
Don’t forget the photos either. I’m so glad I had something to look back on. Try and do a frontal shot, a side shot and a back shot; you may need a friend for this one.
Now I am going to tell you why this is important. I think you all will know where I am going with this one. There will be weeks; even on a VLCD that you won’t lose any weight at all. Believe me I know from experience that 7 days a week on 4 shakes a day and you don’t lose weight your heart will feel like its made of lead and you will want to reach for the biscuits! Well don’t you dare! What you will do instead is get your book out and look at the progress you have made so don’t ruin it with a biscuit that you will just feel guilty about after anyway. They actually taste better in your head than in your mouth.. hmm who I am trying to kid? they do they do godamnit. Instead of the biscuit get your tape measure out as usual and take your new weekly measurements. Then have a good look because a lot of the time you don’t lose weight but you lose inches. This happened to me several times.
Fat vs Lean muscle
Although I have lost a lot I’ve lost it in inches more and this is because my body is getting rid of fat and replacing it with muscle. As you know muscle is a lot denser than fat. If you were to be stood in front of a table right now and there was sat a pound of fat and next to it a pound of muscle. Honestly the pile of fat will look absolutely huge compared to the pound of muscle. Some people get this a bit confused because obviously 1lb of fat weighs exactly the same as 1lb of muscle. But when you visualise it in front of you that is when it sinks in what is going on in your body and why you are losing inches as opposed to fat.
Get That Pen Out
So please please please I can not reiterate enough how important the above is. Please don’t get disheartened on the journey if you suddenly plateau. Just keep doing what you are doing because you’re bloody fantastic and you can do this! We can do this together! We are doing this together!
Right you lovely people enjoy your shakes and bars and meals today. When I first started this process because I wasn’t keen I would look at it as medicine. That helped me with the first couple of days until I actually started really enjoying them. So hang in there this will get easier and when you start seeing the results well Mama Mia! Little nod there to my housemate “husband” Steve “ABBA” Markham and I don’t want to forget our adopted housemate wayword son “Luke”. These guys raised my spirits so much and were my rock in the house. But that’s another story to come. Anyway Wardy stop your rambling; now I’m talking to myself this is scary and now I’m writing it too. Straightjacket please… do you think they come in pink?
Joking aside. Keep doing what you are doing. You can contact me anytime or any of the exante groups on Facebook which are also fantastic. So please enjoy day 4 of 28 of the join me and lose weight for good plan and I shall catch you tomorrow.
